Organize with kitchen wall shelves

Kitchen Wall Shelves

People have different opinions about having shelves in the kitchen. The more traditional kind of people believe in having shelves that are closed behind cabinets doors. However, the new trend emerging in the interior design world is to have open shelves in the kitchen. Now some may argue the having kitchen wall shelves open could be messy and you would always have to have your things perfectly lined up all the time. Sure it is tough to maintain that and will take up quite a lot of time, but the result is totally worth it.

Open kitchen wall shelves look beautiful and classy. You can use them to store anything you wish and such shelves can be used in more ways than one. The three ways in which you could install kitchen wall shelves in your home are as follows:

  1. The first and least complicated idea is to only have 2 or 3 shelves randomly placed on your kitchen walls to showcase some nice artifacts, cook books or flower vases.
  2. Half open and half closed shelves allow you the flexibility of keeping your fine china on display in the open area while you can store other things behind closed doors.
  3. The third and the toughest option is to have all open shelves and keep everything you own on display.

Now there are many ways and places in which you can have your open kitchen wall shelves. Some of them are described below:

    • You can use open shelves in your pantry where you can stock all your baking supplies, spices and other ingredients.
    • Use an old crib as a rack to keep your plates, platters and trays on display. Just repaint your crib and it looks as good as new.
    • You can have open shelves on the wall above your counter top and display your daily use dishes, cups and bowls. In this way your dishes will not get dirty and your shelves will also be easy to clean and maintain.
  • You can also have open shelves to separate your kitchen with the dining area. If you want an open feel but still want to keep both the areas separate, having a shelf wall is the best idea for a room divider.
  • Use up the otherwise wasted corner space by putting some shelves and stacking them with cookbooks and smaller appliances.
  • Have floor to ceiling shelved walls that act as a great divider for breaking down a larger area into two parts.

Go for any of these ideas above and see your kitchen get a new look!
